The magical Barrington Tops NP
Situated north west of New Castle on the East coast of Australia, this hidden, mystic and incredible part of the world is host to some unusual and interesting facts.
Famous for Bush ranger Captain Thunderbolt and not so famously his partner and mother of his children Mary Ann Bugg. She was instrumental in many of his escapes navigating the dense bush, eluding captures and even teaching him how to read. Mary Ann Bugg was a Worimi woman who was sent at an early age to Sydney for education, without her help Thunderbolt would not have had the lengthy career as a bushranger.
Sitting at the top are a group of Douglas Firs and other species planted for observation to species for potential forestry works, the Firs are an iconic destination, the drive to the top is incredible with many landmarks along the way.
